***Important Note on the 1-Day Program***
The 1-Day Mt. Shasta Climb is reserved for climbers with exceptional fitness, prior mountaineering experience, and formal training with a guide service (such as completing an Intro to Mountaineering Course). Participants must be proficient in crampon use, ice axe arrest, rope team travel, and efficient uphill movement on snow. There is no time during this program to teach these foundational skills—this is not a beginner-friendly option.
Without prior training and exceptional fitness, the odds of reaching the summit on a 1-Day climb are extremely low. Climbers must maintain a sustained pace of 1,200–1,300 vertical feet per hour for 12–16 continuous hours. This isn’t just a fitness requirement—it’s a risk management necessity. Any reputable guide on Mt Shasta—including ours—reserves the right to turn a client or team around if they are unable to maintain the necessary pace or jeopardize the team's ability to descend safely within the weather and daylight window.
This policy exists not only for safety, but to protect the overall client experience. When climbers arrive underprepared, it can put the entire team at risk and diminish the quality of the experience for everyone involved.
We want to see every climber succeed on Mt. Shasta, and for the vast majority of climbers, a 2-Day or 3-Day climb is a far better fit. These options offer time to acclimatize, review technical skills, and move at a more sustainable pace—giving you the best chance at reaching the summit and enjoying the journey.
