Climb classic routes with ocean views, dial in technical systems, or spend the day top-roping with friends and family—it’s your adventure, and we’re here to make it happen.

From dialing in systems to enjoying classic climbs with big views, this private day at Mt. Erie is built for climbers of all levels.

  • Objectives – This private program is built around your climbing experience and goals. You can focus on technical skills, movement on rock, or simply enjoy a fun day of climbing on some of the best rock in the Pacific Northwest.

  • Skills We Can Cover:
    • Essential climbing knots
    • Building and evaluating traditional anchors
    • Multi-pitch climbing techniques and efficiency
    • Rappelling and lowering systems
    • Belaying strategies and communication
    • Rock rescue fundamentals
    • Ascending ropes and self-rescue
    • Rock climbing movement and technique
    • Family-friendly climbing instruction

This program is a private and flexible day of rock climbing at Mt. Erie, tailored to your team’s goals and skill level. We’ll adjust the plan based on your objectives, experience, and current weather conditions. Below is an example itinerary:

  • 8:00am – Meet your Guide in Anacortes & Review the Plan for the Day. – After introductions and a gear check, your guide will go over the day’s objectives, route options, and safety considerations before heading to the Mt. Erie crag.

  • 8:30am – Approach the Crag & Begin Climbing – Depending on your goals, we’ll warm up on single-pitch climbs or jump into multi-pitch terrain with sweeping views of the Puget Sound and San Juan Islands.

  • 12:00pm – Lunch Break – A quick break to refuel while enjoying the stunning views from Mt. Erie’s cliffs.

  • 4:00pm – Wrap-Up & Debrief – We’ll finish the day with a recap of skills learned and climbs completed, discuss next steps in your climbing progression, and ensure you leave stoked on the day’s adventure.

Here are the skills and fitness you'll need for your Mt. Erie climbing day:

  • This program is great for all ability levels – Mt. Erie offers everything from beginner top-rope climbs to multi-pitch trad routes with ocean views. It’s ideal for newer climbers, families, and those looking to advance their skills. Let us know your experience so we can plan the best day for your goals.

  • Basic Fitness – You should be able to hike short trails and stay active throughout the day. Approaches are short but can be a bit steep in places. Expect a full day of climbing, learning, and fun.

  • Rock Climbing Gear – Please bring your own climbing shoes, harness, and helmet if you have them, or rent from us. Your guide will provide all technical group gear, including ropes, anchors, and belay devices.

  • AIARE Courses: AIARE course pricing is based on a group of 6. Running these as a private program with fewer than 6 participants will increase the per-person cost.

Full Itinerary

This program is a private and flexible program based on the objectives of you and your team.  We’ll build the itinerary based on what you’re looking for and we’ll pick a start time based on your schedule and current weather.  Below is an example itinerary: 

8:00 am  Meet your guide and review the plan for the day. Your guide will discuss the weather, climbing skills you’ll cover and the route options for your objectives.  After a quick gear check, the team will approach the climb and begin.

8:30 am  Begin skills and climbing.  We will pick and change venues based on the objectives for the day and which zones offer the best climbing and settings for skills.

12:00 pm Lunch Break. 

4:00 pm  We will circle back to the original objectives for the day and make sure that we answer any remaining questions.  We’ll close with a recap on what we learned and what’s next for you and your team.
